The Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, colloquially known as the Sagrada Familia, has been under construction in Barcelona, Spain since 1882. Privately funded by the Roman Catholic Church, part of the building's interior has been made open for public worship even though the expected completion date of the building is in 2026. The Sagrada Familia is considered to be the unfinished masterpiece of renowned Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi, the visionary behind many beautiful modernist edifices throughout Spain such as the Casa Vicens in Barcelona, Episcopal Palace in Astorga and Casa de los Botines in León. Designed to have 18 towers - 12 for the apostles, 4 for the evagelists, one for Mary and one for Jesus - the Sagrada Familia has veered away from Gaudi's original blueprint which was destroyed in the Spanish Civil War in 1938.

Truly a modernist wonder. I highly recommend everyone to go and see this building at least once in their lifetime.
